Martins Lookout to Sharks Head Cave & Lost World Lookout - May 2024

The easily accessible Martins Lookout is just south of Springwood in the Blue Mountains. At the end of a Springwood street is Martins Lookout car park, from the car park the lookout is less than a hundred metres walk. On a rock at Martins Lookout is a plaque explaining a cross just visible on the other side of the Glenbrook Creek Gorge. This cross is at The Lost World Lookout.

This cross is dedicated to Reverend Bro Raymer, who died while attempting to save two of his students at surf carnival in Wollongong in 1953, he was an avid bushwalker.

Accessing Lost World Lookout from Martins is relatively straight forward, with a lot of rock steps and passing Bunyan Lookout. Accessing Sharks Head Cave was another matter, the trail a little difficult follow at times and one section was about as scary as I could cope with.  Not so scary was the hole in the rock I had to squeeze through, necessitating the removal my tiny running pack to fit through.

I had to squeeze up through this hole to proceed, note my cap for size.
